Indochina has very long war history. The wars had destroyed almost everything in these countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia. This itinerary takes you to the vestiges that left from the wars. Especially, beside enoying the beautiful natural landcapes, you will find the value of different cultures, and how the people in these countries have moved on with thier lives till today
Day 01: Sydney - Hanoi
Welcome and pick up at the airport
Day 02: Hanoi (B.L.D)
The city tour in Hanoi includes Hanoi Hilton Museum (De Hoa Lo Prison), Museum of Heroic Mother and Vietnam Military Museum. Then move on to Temple of Literature, Lake of Restored Sword, also known as Hoan Kiem Lake or Sword Lake, Ngoc Son Temple and the Old Quarters. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 03 - 04: Hanoi - Ha Long Bay (B.L.D)
Drive through the Red River Delta to beautiful Ha Long Bay. The scenic drive will pass through some of the rural landscapes (this is good chance for photo shot) Halong Bay has more than 3000 islands. Boat cruise to explore the mystery and beauty of Ha Long Bay. Return to Hanoi after a decent lunch of freshly caught seafood which is served on board. Visit Dong Trieu pottery village on the way.
Day 05 : Hanoi – Sapa (B) – day train is not used for tourists.
Today is a free leisure day until time to be transferred to Hanoi Railways Station in the evening for overnight train to Sapa..
Day 06 : Sapa - Cat Cat Ethnic Village – Sapa (B.L.D)
Visiting ethnic market at Sapa town in the morning, then trekking to visit Cat Cat village H'mong people and Cat Cat waterfall situated in a small village. From here, you will have a chance to learn about traditional culture of the Vietnamese people. Overnight in Sapa.
Day 07 : Sapa - Taphin Ethnic Village – Hanoi (B.L.D)
Drive to Taphin village where Red Dzao and Black H'Mong will make you feel like home. En route, will stop over at the ruins of a French-era church. Then proceed to Lao Cai Station for the night train to Hanoi. Overnight on board.
Day 08 -09 : Hanoi - Hue (B.L.D)
Visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda and President's House On Stilts. Flight to Hue. Visit Imperial palace – A citadel surrounded by large moats. Then move on to visit King Tu Duc Mausoleum. Enjoy traditional music on Perfume River.
Day 10 - 11: Hue - Danang - Hoi An (B.L.D)
Boat cruise on the Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda. Then drive to Khai Dinh Tomb. Head to Hoi An and stop over to visit Lang Co fishing Village. In Hoi An, walking tour around the ancient town centre to visit the former merchant's house, the 400 years old Japanese covered bridge and the colorful market. Free leisure time.
Day 12 : Hoi An - Danang – Quang Ngai (B.L.D)
Morning drive to Quang Ngai on the way stop to visit My Lai Killing Village during the American War and central town. Onwards to Quang Ngai (120km).
Day 13: Quang Ngai – Kon Tum (B.L.D)
Travel up to Kontum (200km) via a newly-built road (National Route 24) across the picturesque Kon Plong Plateau. Admire the sights of H’re tribe villages around Ba To and endless forested mountains en route. The day ends in the small town of Kontum where French missionaries first set foot in the Central Highlands in 1848. In the evening, attend a tribal folk show performed by children at Vinh Son Orphanage.
Day 14 : Kon Tum (B.L.D)
Before leaving for Plei Konang by car (14km), visit an exhibition on the lifestyle, customs and spiritual beliefs of the Bahnar people. Take an exciting trek to Kon Monang (6km) on a jungle trail to discover more about exotic flora and fauna. Then paddle an inflatable raft or dug-out canoe on the Dak Bla River to the Bahnar tribe village of Kon Ktu. Stop on a white sandy bank circled by hills, forests and clear water for a picnic lunch and a swim. Visit Kon Ktu Village, many still retaining the ancient way of life. The day ends with a gong show with villagers including young women and old men in traditional dress dancing around a bonfire. Transfer to Kontum. Overnight in hotel
Day 15: Kon Tum – Pleiku (B.L.D)
Leave for Pleiku (50km), a busy town, home to the J’rai hill-tribe, on a fertile basaltic plateau at the height of 1,000 metres above sea level. Onwards to Plei Kia Village (60km) for a fun elephant ride through J’rai villages, rice fields, forests and streams. Have a picnic lunch under a canopy of leaves by Ia Nhi Falls. Return to Pleiku. Overnight in Pleiku.
Day 16 -17 : Pleiku – Nhatrang (B.L.D)
Drive to Nhatranfg City. On arrival transferred to hotel. City tour includes; Cham Ponagar sanctuary decorated with divine animal statues and other Hindu shrines. Discover Hon Chong Promontory, an isolated site where huge rocks are pile up in a strange way. Giant Buddha built 1963 Long Son Pagoda and stroll along the beaches. Evening cycle tour will help you to discover some secrets of Nha Trang. Next, Boat cruise to Mun Island, Mot Island, Tam Islands where you can swim or take a nap under an umbrella on the beach and sun bathing full day. Return to the shore and visit oceanographic institute.
Day 18 - 19 : Nha Trang - Da Lat (B.L.D)
Drive to Dalat, the city of Love. On the way stop to visit the Poklonggiarai built from the 8th to 12th with baked brick with a pyramid-shape. The exterior of tower is a masterpiece with chiseled carving of fairy dancers and scenes of hunting, boat racing, and pounding rice in a mortar. Dalat City tour includes Lam Tyni Pagoda for visiting the crazy monk, Bao Dai Palace and visit to a local sweet jam shop for shopping. Boating on the Tuyen Lam Lake, one of the most romantic lakes in this area. Afternoon enjoy Elephant ride (optional).
Day 20 - 21: Dalat – Saigon (B.L.D)
Transfer to airport for short flight to Saigon. On arrive Saigon check in hotel. Enjoy free leisure time. Enjoy dinner cruise on Saigon River. Saigon city tour is to visit the former Presidential Palace, Old Saigon Post Office, and the History Museum. After lunch, visit a lacquer ware factory.
Day 22 : Saigon - Cu Chi Tunnels – Tayninh – Saigon (B.L.D)
Take a day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels 70km from Saigon. It consists of more than 200km of an underground tunnels network built by Vietcong guerrillas during the Vietnam War. Explore the amazing architecture of the unique religion in Vietnam, The Caodai Temple, one of the main attractions in Tay Ninh. Return to Saigon.
Day 23 : Saigon - Can Tho (B.L.D)
Morning drive to Cai Be where you will board your boat to visit the bustling floating market, popcorn and rice paper workshops, bonsai gardens and stop for lunch on an island. Continue to Vinh Long and then drive on to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho.
Day 24 : Can Tho - Chau Doc (B.L.D)
Morning boat cruise to visit a large floating market, which is a wonderful spectacle with thousands of small boats barging and jostling for position. Cruise through small canals and stop at a fruit orchard to taste some of the succulent fruits of the Mekong delta, then continue driving to visit the Binh Thuy old house and market. After lunch, drive to Chau Doc near the border. Overnight in Chau Doc.
Day 25 : Chau Doc - Phnom Penh (L.D)
Depart in the morning for a scenic unique 5 hour journey up the Mekong river to Phnom Penh. Customs and immigration formalities en route. You will be met and transferred to hotel. Afternoon tours of Phnom Penh visiting the National Museum and Victory Monument. End your visit with a visit of the hilltop Wat Phnom Temple from where you can enjoy views over the tree-lined avenues of Phnom Penh sunset. Overnight in Phnompenh.
Day 26 : Phnom Penh (B.L.D)
After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Killing Field and Toul sleng-museum of the genocide - a former Tuol Svay Prey High School that was converted to Khmer Rouge? main torture and interrogation centre in 1975. Afternoon free leisure time for shopping or explore. Overnight in Phnompenh.
Day 27 : Phnom Penh - Siem Reap (B.L.D)
After breakfast transfer to airport for short flight to Siem Reap. On arrival Siem Reap visit South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayontemple, the royal enclosure, the Phimeanakas, the elephant terrace and the terrace of the leper king. Lunch at your hotel. Afternoon visits Angkor magnificent sculptures in stone and views the sunset. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 28 : Siem Reap (B.L.D)
Early birds can see the sunrise from Phnom Bakheng, one of the two hills dominating the plains of Angkor. After breakfast continue sight seeing the Angkor temples. The highlights include Ta Prohm and the sacred bathing pool of Sras Srang. After lunch visit the north gate of Angkor Thom and the further temple complexes of Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som, the Mebon Oriental and Pre Rup. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 29 : Siem Reap – Vientiane (B.L.D)
Take a short flight to Vientiane .On arrival you will be met and transferred to hotel. City tours including the That Luang and Wat Phra Keo, the original home of the emerald Buddha. Enjoy dinner with Traditional Dancers. Overnight at Vientiane.
Day 30 : Vientiane – Luang Prabang (B.L.D)
After breakfast fly to palm drenched Luang Prabang, the cultural heartland of Laos and arguably one of Asia’s most serenely beautiful cities. Dive to Buddha filled caves of Pak-Ou. Visit some of the small fishing communities that thrive on the banks of the Mekong. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 31: Luang Prabang – Vientiane (B.L.D)
Following breakfast, visit to the National Museum situated in the former Royal Palace. The museum is still very much as it was when vacated by the Royal family in early 1970’s. Flight back to Vientiane and transfer to hotel . After lunch, visit the National Cultural Centre, Friendship Bridge and Buddha Park. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 32: Vientiane – Saigon (B.L.D)
Morning free leisure time for shopping or sightseeing. Afternoon check out and transfer to airport fro flight to Saigon. On arrival, Saigon you will be picked up and transferred to hotel. Overnight in Saigon.
Day 33 : Australia – Sydney (B)
Free leisure time. Lake check out and transfer to airport for flight to Sydney
Day 34 : Australia Arrival
